~Pendle Hill~

ignoramuses
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Sabden
Well, it had to happen sooner or later. I chose to ascend Pendle Hill from (near to) Sabden. Parking as above and then a short walk uphill to the Nick of Pendle. Start time was after work at 16:40hrs.
Bank Hill, Pendle
Wellsprings
This view is on the Ribble side of the hill. The Wellsprings Inn is a pub / restaurant and next to it is Pendle Ski Club. The rubbish in the foreground might be spent fireworks or flares.
Apronful Hill
The route ahead is clear, Mearley Moor is behind Apronful Hill. I set off in this direction many years ago, but lost interest. I'm determined to do better this time.
Pendle Hill
Not its best side. I joined the higher end of Ogden Clough and the flags for the walk to the summit.
The Flagstones
I counted 1067 flagstones, I always knew there was a lot. Could be a few more/less.
The Summit
Very hazy today. From here it was off to the stile for a loop back around the back side of Pendle to find the path back to the Nick.
In the great outdoors, when you pass closely to someone else, it is customary to lift ones eyes and offer a greeting, however simple - maybe a nod, perhaps a smile. These two ignoramuses let the side down badly, I may as well have been invisible. Most unusual and quite unacceptable.
The Runner
He said "hello"
Summit Pool
On the plataeu, behind the wall, there a few pools.
Clitheroe - ish
The Scout Cairn on Pendle Hill
"RR"
I haven't been here before and I didn't do this, what does it mean?
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 2hr and 20 minutes over a distance of about 7 miles.
Route: Nick of Pendle, Apronful Hill, Black Hill, Ogden Clough, The Flags, The Summit, The Stile, round the back to the Scout Cairn, across the peaty bogs and back to Apronful Hill, Nick of Pendle.
Weather and conditions: Hazy sunshine, cool towards the end.
Greetings Count: I greeted three individuals, two with dogs. I was completely ignored by two women. Later I "hello'd" three chaps with heavy backpacks and I think they were probably camping out.
Take me back to the start ....
