A Long Lane
I watched the England cricketers struggle to 229 in their World Cup quarter final against Sri Lanka and really didn't fancy sticking around, so I took the short drive to Wycoller and planned an ascent of Boulsworth Hill. It's a dull afternoon. My route took me up this long lane.
Pendle Hill
Look at the sky, it's not ideal. In the other direction, the view ahead to Boulsworth Hill.
Boulsworth Hill
Perhaps I'll get a text from home when a Sri Lankan wicket falls. They know I'm interested.

Another Long Lane
This even longer lane connects the Thursden valley of Burnley with Trawden and Wycoller.
Boulsworth Ascent
This is not pleasant. Peat bogs and an untidy path, make sure it hasn't rained for at least two weeks before trying this.

Pendle Hill
from Lad Law, it's still very dull. Time to carry on and start the descent.

Half way down and a bit of greenery livens things up, Boulsworth Dyke Farm is painted white.

Wycoller Tearooms
Walk complete. Never did receive the texts to indicate SL wickets tumbling. I found a GeoCache on Boulsworth Hill, despite not looking and never taking part in looking for such - I don't have and don't want a GPS. They should do a better job of hiding them.
Walkers: Just me. It seems the Sri Lankans did not lose any wickets and won with ease. I didn't miss much.
Time taken: 3hrs and 20 minutes over a distance of about 7.5 miles.
Route: Wycoller car park, Great Thorn Edge, Great Hill, Mean Moss, Beaver Farm, the Boulsworth loop and then back along the lane past Brinks End Farm and on to the Bronte Way down to Wycoller.
Weather and conditions: Dull.
Greetings Count: Two small walking groups, a three and a four.
Richard's Refreshment Review: Pot of tea for one at the tearooms. Last orders 5pm, I was in good time. No holidays on the noticeboard, so assume the tearooms to be open all weekends for the forseeable future. It's quite annoying to plan a walk and find the place closed.
Take me back to the start ....
