Barley Houses

Barley Houses

This time I parked in Barley and set off up the track by the Ogden Reservoirs. Pendle Hill had attracted cloud late in the afternoon, my hope is that as the evening progresses, the cloud will move on or disperse.

Upper Ogden Dam

I wonder what life is like in the Parallel Universe which surely exists deep inside the puddle?

Ogden Clough

Ogden Clough

Into the Quiet Zone of Ogden Clough. It's a bit like the carriage on the train where you can't use your mobiles.

No sunshine just yet, but the cloud appears to be breaking up.

Over the flags towards the west, Longridge Fell (l) and Parlick in view.

Pendle Sunset

Pendle Sunset

I was on my own up here for long enough and then along came quite a few walkers, including one Pendler from Colne who tries to get up here every week and also enjoys Lakeland walking - kindred spirit!

The Edge

Walkers: Just Me

Time taken: 2hr 30min over a distance of about 6 miles.

Route: Barley, Ogden Reservoirs, Ogden Clough, The Flags, Pendle Summit, down the steps, back across the fields to Barley.

Weather and conditions: Cloud breaking up, to leave a calm and cool evening on top of Pendle Hill.

Greetings Count: I passed two by the reservoirs and then saw nobody else until a group of four young men arrived at the top. Then I had a chat with the chap from Colne and saw a few more late ascenders.

Take me back to the start ....

Take me home....
