Heavy Showers in the East
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Lower Ogden Reservoir
This evening's Pendle walk started in Barley at 18:50hrs. There was no tea available at home, so I nipped into a local supermarket and I am going to have a picnic somewhere nice and quiet.
Blackbird
There's usually a few birds knocking about. Last time I saw an owl sat on a wall, but as soon as it saw me, it was off. This blackbird is eyeing up something in the dry channel below this wall and was soon off for tea.
Upper Ogden Reservoir
Just for a change I crossed the dam and walked along the other side of the reservoir, just by the wall. There is a path, whether or not it's a right of way is another matter. I'll have to look that up sometime.
Upper Ogden Reservoir
My picnic was taken on a grassy ledge next to the reservoir. Best seat in the house, very quiet and a tidy view.
Boar Clough and The Hawthorn |
Boar Clough - looking down |
Boar Clough
After the reservoirs, I took a route straight up Boar Clough. The Hawthorn is a lonely tree on the slopes of Pendle Hill and keeps a careful watch over this side of the fell. Wheeled traffic has been in Boar Clough and I fear it's scrambler motorbikes and they have caused serious damage in places.
Fingers of Cloud
The weathermen had predicted heavy showers further east, but west is best this evening.
Big Cloud - somewhere near Keighley?
Pendle Sunset
Over the Bowland Fells. This is the warmest day of the week and I couldn't risk waiting for Thursday or Friday, but in the event Thursday evening, as I write this report has been quite bright after a rainy day and Friday has a good forecast.
Pendle Summit
The Stile
As I was carrying a carrier bag, I decided to do a little tidying up. Many empty drinks containers, discarded wrappers, general detritus and someone had partaken of corned beef slices and a tin of anchovies and left all the packaging on the steps. Unusual combo; these were bought from Tesco - do you know who did this? Or was it you? There must be a better way...
