Bollington Recreation Ground
Time to revisit Bollington in East Cheshire. We parked at the Middlewood Way Car Park in Bollington and took a walk through the park (above). Soon we would find the Macclesfield Canal towpath and head south.
The Macclesfield Canal
Adelphi Mill
The mill was built in 1865 and designed for cotton spinning. It is now spilt into office units.

Over the canal and up to Dawson's Farm...

The next part of the walk is on the west side of the Saddle of Kerridge.
The route passed some very desirable cottages.
A Woody Bit
We are loosely following a route found on t'internet, the aim being to gain safe access to the Saddle of Kerridge. There is a path through Bridge Quarry, but that's somewhat industrial and there was also an active shooting range!
Macclesfield
Up to the footpath along the "saddle" on Kerridge Hill.
White Nancy
"White Nancy was built in 1817 by John Gaskell junior of North End Farm to commemorate the victory at the Battle of Waterloo. It originally had an entrance to a single room which was furnished with stone benches and a central round stone table, but the entrance is now blocked." so says Wikipedia.
Molly Knocks
Molly tries to find the sealed entrance to the folly.
Bollington
Clarence Mill can clearly be seen and they have a cafe!
Pott Shrigley
The church belongs to the hamlet of Pott Shrigley. Tucked away, out of sight is Shrigley Hall Hotel and golf club.

Walkers: Karen, Molly and Me.
Refreshment Review(s): Cafe Waterside in Clarence Mill offers a good daytime menu and outside seating. Dogs are allowed inside and out. Unfortunately at the time of our visit a giddy gaggle of girls (young ladies) were enjoying a "baby shower" whatever that is and making far too much noise.
Route: as described... Bollington Circular Walk 3 - with variations.
Weather: Warm and sunny.
Time Taken: 2 hours 15 minutes over a distance of about 5 miles.
