~Feizor for Refreshments~

1st June 2014

Feizor

Feizor, North Yorkshire

Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....

Settle Carlisle Railway

The Settle-Carlisle Railway

This walk started at the car park in Stainforth, a small village just north of Settle. The main purpose of the walk was to take a light lunch at the cafe in Feizor - oh and enjoy some exercise along the way.

Ribble at Stainforth

The River Ribble at Stainforth

Our route took us across the bridge, we diverted down to the river so Molly could have a paddle. Up the hill past Little Stainforth and onto the fields, heading WNW for Feizor.

Little Stainforth Smearsett Scar

Up the lane and through the gate. Smearsett Scar features on the right as we head on through the fields full of sheep.

Sheep

Sheep

I expressed a hope that "the cyclists" hadn't got there before us ....

Elaine's Tearooms

Elaine's Tearooms

Formerly known as Feizor Refreshments, Elaine's Tearooms is one of the best. Dog and Boot friendly, friendly and efficient staff, good food. Yes, a few cyclists had beaten us to it, but there was room for everyone. We sat outside on this warm, if cloudy day.

Tree

Tree

Taking a more southerly route back and aiming for Stackhouse, the walk was not overly interesting, but we did pass a tree.

Stackhouse

More trees mark the arrival in Stackhouse, where buttercups are in full bloom.

River Ribble

River Ribble

Reaching the river at the weir, we turned left and followed the river back to Stainforth. Molly remains better at climbing than descending.

Fields with cows replaced the fields with sheep. Great fun, not!

Ribble Rivers Trust

Approaching Stainforth

The Ribble Rivers Trust are planting trees as far apart as Stainforth and Wycoller. It'll look grand in a decade or two.

Ah well, it was sunny in the Lakes, sunny back home and overcast in Stainforth.

Seven miles, good food, four hours.
