Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
End of Summer
The weary looking Rosebay Willowherb confirms the end of summer. This walk starts from Barley and passes the slowly transforming old waterworks, soon to be private residences. Not for me, I couldn't live so close to Pendle and not enjoy a good view in at least one direction.
The Ogden Reservoirs
No guarantee of a decent sunset this evening, but I'm feeling optimistic that the sky will oblige.
Boar Clough
First time up here since there was ice in the clough, makes a change from following the well-worn path.
Burnley Centre
Hover your pointer over the image for some annotation. Lambert Howarth's building (Finsley Mill) is currently being demolished, maybe another chimney is about to disappear from the skyline. It must be something like 45 years since a steam train last travelled over the viaduct.
Peel Tower
Peel Tower, overlooking Bury is clear to see this evening. The abandoned stone quarry on Hameldon Scouts was once owned by Henry Heys, of whom I am a descendant.

Sunshine on the top of Pendle
Foulridge Reservoir
I won't get the pointers out again, but beyond the reservoir and far away is Knarrs Hill, giving the reverse of a view enjoyed yesterday.
