Malham Methodist Chapel
Ah well, here it is ... the annual trip to Malham. Familiarity breeds disinterest, sadly. This is a wonderful area and largely unspoilt. To make things a little more exciting, I proposed to do "the walk" the other way round i.e. Malham Cove first and Janet's wotsit last.
Malham
There are two pubs in Malham and at least two tearooms, could be more hidden out of the way. Parking can be a challenge, but sometime the farmer opens up a field and charges exactly the same as the National Park, I think they were a pound cheaper last time. I'm not sure where the 100+ cars in the field would be without this facility.
The Cove
Of course, the sunshine is absent just when you need it most.

Over the Cove |
In a flash, we are at the top of the Cove. The clints and grikes are fantastic, each crack between the rocks is an ideal place for the feckless to leave their rubbish. I suspect that there are many mobile phones in those dark recesses.

Watlowes
The dry valley of Watlowes extends northwards towards Malham Tarn.
Sheriff Hill
The walk across Sheriff Hill towards Gordale Bridge, very pleasant and easy going.
Field System and Hawthorns Lane
Kestrel
Gordale Beck
Our walk does not extend to Gordale Scar, another amazing feature in this location.
Gordale Refreshments
It's been a good year at GR, what a difference a little sunshine can make. Astonishingly, they do not appear to be rated on TripAdvisor, what are we going to do?
Janet's Foss
The most photographed waterfall in the world! Well, in Malham, probably.
The Barn
