Pendle Summit

quinquagenarian est mihi
For my 40th birthday, we had a couple of nights near Keswick and climbed up Castle Crag (but not to the top)- at the time I didn't know it was one of Wainwright's Fells! Otherwise I might have put the extra effort in. Since then I've really enjoyed the outdoors - lots of walking and a fair bit of climbing. These last few weeks have felt like ... purgatory ... weather and ambling problems - which side will I emerge into?
Wintry Pendle Hill
Last night we felt the full force of the latest storm to batter the UK, this morning the mean speed is said to be a modest 16mph and a walk up Pendle seems like a good way to test my limbs and challenge the elements on this birthday walk.

The Stile
I followed two sets of footprints up the steps. I passed one walker and the other tracks disappeared, so I might have been the first up to the summit this morning, but I wouldn't bet on it.
