Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Pendle Shadow
Start time today was 17:55 and I made my usual ascent of the steps with typical gusto. And with a shadow like that, the view westwards was eagerly anticipated.
Sun, Wall & Stile
I'm a bit previous. Sunset is still at least 30 minutes away. Also the lack of moisture and clouds will limit the colours and drama in the evening sky. I'm off to the summit...
Path Avoidance
Many walkers and runners up here avoid the path. The result is a widening of the path, as it is full of rocks which could cause ankle twisting to those in a hurry, but for those us who watch where we are going, it is a pleasure to step where many generations have previously done so.

Brierfield
Kestrel Dives
A common sight up here is the kestrel. He was busy tonight, hovering and diving.
Pendle Sunset
The sky is blank and free of moisture. Even the transatlantic flights leave no trace in these conditions.
Cheerio!
Sunset at 18:58.
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 1 hour 15mins over a distance of about 3 miles.
Route: Roadside parking, up the steps, along the summit plateau, back to the stile, summit again and finally down the track.
Weather and conditions: Sunny and a tad breezy.
Greetings Count: Plenty of folk up there today and more heading up as I came down. I suppose those for whom it is purely exercise are not too bothered about sunsets and daylight.
Take me back to the start ....
