The Start
This was a bit of a gamble, there are heavy showers around - greens and yellows, if you watch the BBC weather forecasts. But if I miss the rain, the views should be a little different to usual.
Rain Shower
Somewhere close to Barnoldswick, they're getting drenched.
Thunderstorm
Lightning and bangs coming from the clouds over Gisburn. I made it to the top in quick time and I was carrying a waterproof, fearing the worst. But, I was lucky the showers were avoiding Pendle Hill.
Rain Cloud
Another Cumulonimbus is building from the south, heading towards Burnley from Rossendale.
Pendle Summit
Burnley Rainbow
An unlikely location for a pot of gold. Fell Wood is closer to the camera.
Pendle Hill Trig Point
Chosen by the Burnley Express as "Photo of The Week" - edition of 15th July 2011
I spent around 40 minutes up here waiting for the best photo opportunities and hoping the sun would shine directly on the summit, but it didn't. Many folk got wet this evening, but not me.
Pendle Summit
The cairn nearest the camera was built by me. The stones had spelt out a name and been scattered untidily, so I tidied the area up a little.
Black Moss Reservoirs and Barley
Rain Cloud over West Yorkshire
Hebden Bridge / Hailfax are also getting wet.
Heading Home
Two local residents, Tom (left) and Karen are heading home to their place just under Pendle Hill. Fantastic.
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 1hr 40mins over a distance of about 2.5 miles.
Route: Roadside, up the steps, along the top, around and about and then back down the steps.
Weather and conditions: Overcast, not windy, storms to the north, east and south.
Greetings Count: A runner overtook me and I passed a few descenders, but no other walkers were on top, chancing the conditions. Tom (above) recognised me from this website, very rewarding.
Take me back to the start ....
