~Pendle Hill~
25th February 2011
Pendle Hill
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Barley Village Hall
Today's walk started and finished in Barley. The sunshine from yesterday has departed.
Pendle Hill
I'm heading for Black Moss (Lower) Reservoir - this view is typical February, devoid of colour.
Salt Pie Farm
The sheep thought I was the farmer and followed me for a while, that's Salt Pie Farm behind the wall and Black Moss (Upper) can also be seen.
Black Moss Reservoirs
A splash of red contrasts with a rather dull landscape. I'm half way up the steep bit.
Pendle Summit
Barley Hill and Lower Ogden Reservoir
I'm descending off the flank of Pendle Hill and for a change, I'm going to wander over Barley Hill - there's a first time for everything.
Barley Hill
The footpath across this little hill doesn't traverse the summit, but runs along the south side and you can just about make out the route.
Lower Ogden Reservoir
Barley
A new view of Barley Village Hall and the car park.
Walkers: Just Me
Time taken: 2hr and 9 minutes over a distance of about 5 miles.
Route: Barley, Lower Black Moss, Salt Pie Farm, Windy Harbour, the lane to Pendle House, the steps, the summit, flank down to Buttock Farm, across Barley Hill and down to the village.
Weather and conditions: Dull.
Greetings Count: Quite a few folk on the steps, otherwise fairly quiet.
Richard's Refreshment Review: Nothing to report - as the cafe in Barley car park closes too early!!
Take me back to the start ....
