~Pendle Hill~

Lower Ogden Reservoir
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Barley Village Hall
Flags of St.George on display, presumably in readiness for St.George's Day, which is not far away. Time allowed for a walk from Barley car park. It's been a hazy day and the sunset will be, at best, watery. So, no need to time the summit arrival precisely and Ogden Clough is the preferred route up Pendle today.

Upper Ogden Reservoir
Time to consider your car wash routines. I would say that Lower was lower than Upper, but as Upper is higher than Lower, it's possible for the chaps to make Lower higher than Upper by opening a valve or two.
Ogden Clough
You reach a point where you leave everday life, you can't see or hear anyone or any place and mobile phones don't get a signal. Enjoy!
Up Boar Clough |
Down Boar Clough |
I changed the plan and walked straight up a fairly dry Boar Clough, not something I've done before. The photo on the right shows a pool rounded by the action of rocks - quite unusual in this fragile sandstone rock. Towards the top it was a dry valley.
Top of Boar Clough
I have a theory that if someone builds a cairn, someone else will come along and take a photo of it.

Pendle Summit
Easter time and the Cross is in place, chained to the trig. Are the chains intended to be symbolic or is it a security measure?
Watery Sunset
It's pretty much as I expected and this is the last I saw of the sun today.
The Steps
I quite enjoy walking down the steps as I see others working hard! The two ladies in less-than-standard fellwalking gear were cheery and we exchanged greetings - not something that would have happened on the High Street in Burnley or Nelson. Discuss.
The Grass Is Always Greener....
