Widdop
Good Friday? An excellent Friday, no less. Blue skies and little wind, everyman and his dog heading outdoors; it was time to implement the anit-congestion plans. Molly and I headed out of Lancashire and into the Pennine Hills on the other side of the watershed.
Widdop Reservoir
We parked at the "Gorple" car park a little further to the east than the "Widdop" spot. Here is a very calm Widdop Reservoir.

We started our walk at 07:20hrs and took the private road in the direction of Walshaw Dean. There are three reservoirs in WD, an area I have never seen, let alone walked in.

Walshaw Dean Lower Dam
The dam proved to be the only part of the moorland walk where Molly could be off the lead, the rest of the territory being the home of sheep and ground-nesting birds.

Walshaw Dean Middle Reservoir
This is as far up Walshaw Dean as we could go today, the middle reservoir being somewhat empty.

Abandoned House |
The abandoned house has an "1870" date and may have been associated with the reservoir construction, it doesn't look much like a farm.
Walker Selfie
Third take! On the first two attempts, Molly was distracted by sheep droppings.

13 hours and 11 minutes apart, a day of unbroken sunshine. Two fine walks - the latter being from home and around Nelson Golf Course.

Time taken: 1 hours 30 minutes over a distance of about 3.5 miles.
