Lower Ogden Reservoir
Leaving Barley at 17:10hrs on this grey Friday afternoon, I take the route up and over Barley Hill.
A Wall Over Barley Hill
One of two walls over Barley Hill, which have take on a new appearance after the drifting snowfall of recent times.

Barley Hill and Lower Ogden Reservoir |
This will be the last of the "winter" walks; the clock moves forward an hour at the weekend and the Pendle routine may well switch to the shorter post-tea ascents from the roadside.
Peel Tower
The monument on Holcombe Hill, dedicated to Sir Robert Peel. The Bury-born, twice-appointed Prime Minister's second government repealed the Corn Laws, opening up free trade (1846).
Pendle Summit and Pen-y-Ghent
The sunshine missing on Pendle Hill, appears to be illuminating the western territory of the Yorkshire Dales.
Pendle Stile |
The Steps |
The return route is down the steps and through the lanes and fields to Barley.
The Troll
I passed this creepy creation in the snow and immediately thought of "The Troll". Who remembers him, leaving daft messages on this site when I had a comment facility? "Wigga Wogga Wigga Wogga" said the lumpy, lousy irritator from Egremont.
