Barley
A Sunday morning ascent of Pendle Hill. No prospect of sunshine or good views on this one.

The abandoned farmhouse has been suggested as a location for "Malkin Tower" - home of The Demdikes of Pendle Witch Fame.

Between the two was a "whiteout". It was not possible to see the way, or the path from the stile to the summit.

Pendle Hill from Newchurch
This photo, on departure, shows the cloud lifting, but you can still see why there was a "whiteout". Later, in the afternoon, I went over to Cliviger to see the "Tin Bath" heading up the hill to Copy Pit.

Cliviger Gorge
My elevated position looking east, indeed just beyond the reservoir is the Lancs/Yorks border. It's not ideal, as there are some rather high-voltage cables between me and the railway line.

From my vantage point, the train heads for Burnley with Thieveley Pike in the background.
Of the Pendle walk...
Walkers: Just Me.
Time taken: 2 hours 8 minutes over a distance of about 6 miles.
Route: Barley, up the fields to Pendle House, The Steps, The Summit, Boar Clough, Ogden Clough, Ogden Reservoirs and back to Barley.
Weather: Cloudy and cold, light snow for most of the walk.
Greetings: Several groups of youngsters were leaving Barley - maybe orienteering. There may have been others on top of Pendle, but I couldn't see them!
