Newchurch-in-Pendle

Early Morning Sunshine over Newchurch-in-Pendle

With a start time of 09:10hrs, this walk begins from Newchurch. The snow arrived on Monday 14th and nobody ever knows how long it will last or how soon the skies will be leaden with grey again. So, there is no time to lose!

Early Views

My walk thorugh Fell Wood was very peaceful with all tree tops heavy with snow. On exiting the wood, a view of Lower Ogden Reservoir with the reflection of Barley Hill is followed by a look up towards the upper reservoir.

Between the reservoirs

Between The Reservoirs

I followed the beck to Upper Ogden Reservoir.

Upper Ogden Reservoir

Upper Ogden Reservoir

The water is still flowing in and then out of the reservoir via the overflow, this must be hindering the freezing of the surface. At the far end, the ice is beginning to make advances.

Looking North-East

The Ribble Valley looked quite misty and further mists were in evidence over towards Skipton and Crosshills.

The Stile

The Stile

This walk covers much the same territory as my previous walk, three days ago, but the scenery is quite different Down the steps, along the lane, across the road and off to Salt Pie Farm and Lower Black Moss Reservoir.
