Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Low Cloud on Pendle Hill
No fanfare for the quarter century for 2012. With worse weather forecast for later in the week, I thought I'd better keep the tally going with this Wednesday walk. Start time is 19:30hrs from the roadside.
Black Moss Reservoirs
I'm just entering the Mist Over Pendle.
Looking North-West
Er, well, that's this evening's sunset photo. There was more than the usual amount of rubbish up here and I was wandering over to pick up a discarded drinks bottle when I nearly stood on ....
"Please Keep To The Path!" cried the little birds
There is "no tag" on this photo and I'm not typing in a description. It serves to reinforce the directive that walkers should stick to the well-worn paths and keep dogs on leads at certain times of the year.
Pendle Trig Column
I'm halfway to a notional target of 50 ascents in the year.

Long Distance Travellers
How far would you travel to climb Pendle Hill? 6 miles? 60 miles? 600 miles?
Curlew
Lots of Curlew activity at lower levels.
Most of the climbers in the last but one photo were in Utah, USA earlier in the day, so they have travelled somewhere close to 6,000miles in order to climb Pendle Hill. Is this a record?? I was invited back up as their guide and I should have done that, but hopefully they found there way round safely. I'm assuming that it was not a day trip.
Walkers: Just Me.
Time taken: 1hr 10mins over a distance of about 2.5 miles.
Route: Roadside, up the Steps, across the top and down the track.
Weather and conditions: Misty on top.
Greetings Count: A few descenders early one, then nobody on top and finally the long distance travellers later on.
Richard's Refreshment Review: Not today.
PS...the sun might just have made an appearance later on and such would have rewarded the tourists for their efforts.
Take me back to the start ....
