~Pendle 50!~
6th December 2012
Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Pendle Hill from Roughlee
This walk was planned more than a week ago, the date chosen and a table for two booked at a favourite local eatery. Snow is forecast for midday and all of yesterday's sunshine has vanished.
Pendle Hill from Lower Black Moss Reservoir
The walk started from Barley car park at 10:00hrs. Bob Eaves is with me today. Part of the surface of the reservoir is frozen over.

Pendle Homes
With a timetable (a) to get up and down before the worst of the weather and (b) to get to The Cabin on time, we pass between the two reservoirs and then head for the steps.
Across The Fields
Top of The Steps
Soon enough we are at the top of the steps and there are a few other walkers in the area, one following us, shown here.
On The Plateau
Nearest the camera is a Pendle first-timer with his puppy border collie; two runners approach the summit; two others already there.
John and Dave
Mountain Guide, John, is the Pendle first-timer. He has a business based in Elterwater and his dog is called Dave.
Bob Approaches The Summit
Pendle 50 on December 6th 2012
John takes our photo. That's 50 times to the summit of Pendle Hill this year (so far). A look back to last year's 50th and not much appears to have changed!

The Track
On leaving the summit, we headed down the track. It was very icy causing us to improvise. There is "light snow" - as forecast, in the air.

Christmas Lunch in The Cabin |
Christmas lunch was booked for 12:30 in The Cabin. They are offering these tasty lunches from now until Christmas and very good it was too!
